God Can

Do you ever feel like you limit the power of God?

Take a step outside and look at the heavens. See the stars, the moon, the sun, the clouds. Then, look down to the hills, the trees, rivers, and streams. Then look around at your fellow man. Finally, take a look in the mirror. See all the beauty of creation that is surrounding you and realize that God created it all (Genesis 1). If God can do that, then what can't he do?

There is an episode in Numbers 11 in which the people of God long for meat in a barren wilderness. God tells them he has it covered. However, Moses, in speaking to God, wonders how this is possible. God's response to him is very concise.

Numbers 11:23

And the Lord said to Moses, “Is the Lord’s hand shortened? Now you shall see whether my word will come true for you or not.”

And guess what? The people ate meat.

The God who created the world is able to do far more abundantly than we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). He told his people long ago,

Isaiah 41:10

fear not, for I am with you;

be not dismayed, for I am your God;

I will strengthen you, I will help you,

I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

God has said He is working for our good, despite the chaos that exists in the world.

He has said that He is empowering us although we might feel powerless.

Romans 8:26–28

26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Can he do it? Can the Lord provide? Can the Lord turn the tide of nations? Can God build His church?

So many times we limit God based on our own ideas and our own limitations.

But that isn't fair to us, nor is it honoring to God. He has told us what he has done and what he is going to do. It is not for us to determine what God can or cannot do. It is only for us to be obedient.

God can! The question is, will we trust him?

Eyes up,

Ryan
